Pharmacy Education Symposium 2009
Mr Peter Halstead
BPharm, AACP Accredited, MPS, GAICD, LEADR Accredited
Peter Halstead is Registrar of the Pharmacy Board of South Australia, a post he has held since 2002.
In 2003, the Pharmacy Board of South Australia charged Peter with the responsibility of developing a competency assurance program for pharmacists practising in South Australia. The ENRICH program was implemented through 2004, and 2008 sees the completion of an entire audit cycle for the complete register of pharmacists in South Australia.
Prior to Peter’s appointment as Registrar he spent six years at the School of Pharmacy, University of South Australia. In this role he supported research and development projects headed by people such as Emeritus Professor Lloyd Sansom and Professor Andrew Gilbert.
Before 1995, Peter spent 15 years as practising pharmacist, partner and eventually managing partner of a large community pharmacy operation in Adelaide, South Australia. During this period Peter gained a broad understanding of many issues confronting pharmacists. This understanding was enhanced in his roles as consultant pharmacist to the Drug and Alcohol Services Council (DASC) of South Australia, Shine (formerly known as Family Planning) South Australia and the Department of Veteran Affairs.
